Lorenza Mel – Areas of Expertise

Criminal lawyer, Cassation Lawyer registered with the Venice Bar Association.

She completed the National School of Advanced Specialised Training Second biennal Course for criminal lawyers, organized by the Union of Italian Criminal Chambers and La Sapienza University of Rome.

In addition to practising criminal law, she also has a professional interest in niche, specialist and emerging sectors.

Having lived in Venice, she became passionate about recreational and commercial sailing (Yacht Business), including maritime transport issues.

Because of her national and international sporting background, she specialises in sports law, with particular experience of issues related to the use and abuse of prohibited substances.

During the four-year Olympic terms 2000-2004 and 2004-2008, Lorenza Mel handled many legal issues within equestrian sports, on behalf of the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation, with a focus on positive doping results in both horses and athletes.

Lorenza Mel currently holds numerous Anti-Doping Tribunal positions with International Sports Federations.

Her innate passion for animals and horses pushed her to found the FEALU (Forensic Equine & Animal Legal Unit) project in 2013 with the aim of bringing together different professionals, including experts in the world of horses, and to offer, among other things, qualified legal assistance including drafting of forensic technical reports in cases of animal abuse as well as defensive and investigative assistance in the event of accidents and injuries or in the event of the death of animals.
